It happens to the best of us, you’re talking to one person and another person you know walks up but you’ve forgotten their name, so you don’t introduce them to the other person. This is often an uncomfortable situation for both you and everyone else involved. Scarlet knows that there are many things that can be done to help you remember names so that this will happen less often.
Here are some tips to help you:
Repeat the name. (3 times is often good to make sure it’s stored) Also try to use it in the conversation to put it to memory.
Associate the person with a character or celebrity. For example, if you were initially meeting Scarlet you may associate her with actress Scarlett Johansson.
Use rhymes. Rhyming the person’s name with a word helps it stick in your brain.
Focus on characteristics. Try thinking of a word that defines the person and starts with the same first letter. One example of this would be smart Scarlet.
If you are ever in this situation where you do forget a name simply say to the person, “forgive me, it’s been one of those days, will you help me with your name.” That’s much better than not introducing two people at all.
…until next time…
