ASK SCARLET: Scarlet, I have a friend who is consistently a drink buyer and never a drink giver. Now granted, I like buying rounds of drinks and having a good time, but come on…you can’t just stand around and suck up all of the drinks and never contribute…what do you think?

SCARLET SAYS: The unfortunate reality is that your friend CAN stand around and suck up all of the drinks and never contribute. It seems like that plan is working remarkably. If this is a good enough friend, where tactfully (and perhaps even jokingly) mentioning it is possible, consider that. As much as you like to buy rounds, you might have to limit this action, because it seems that it’s being taken advantage of.
