Overdosing on Gummy Vitamins

So, while engaging in today’s normal random Facebook timeline scroll, I ran across an article about supplemental vitamins. These few lines really caught my eye:

“Beta-carotene, vitamin E, and possibly high doses of vitamin A supplements are harmful,” they specify. “Other antioxidants, folic acid, and B vitamins, and multivitamin and mineral supplements are ineffective for preventing mortality or morbidity due to major chronic diseases.”

The article goes on to talk about why “over supplemental vitamizing” (a random made up phrase by me) is bad news. Now, Scarlet’s no medical expert so, if you’re interested in reading the whole article, click here.

In all honesty, one of the reasons this piece is so interesting to me is because, I’m sure that I have personally “over vitamized”. I’m a fan of those chewable multi vitamins and although the directions say, take two a day, 4-5 of them always get stuck together when I go to get just two out, so I feel inclined to just eat all 4-5. Is it bad? Well, maybe it is but they sure do taste good.

The question here is…are you over vitamizing – taking much too much of a good thing? Think about your relationships. Where do you generally stand in your relationships? Are you always on the taking end, with very little to ever give? Now, I’m not just talking about monetarily giving. I mean, giving of your time, your knowledge, your love, your support, your talents, etc.

Too much taking (even of a good thing) will have you in overdose mode. Eventually, people will see you coming and begin to avoid your calls, ignore your texts, stop inviting you to events and generally put that “taker” label after your name.

Scarlet Says…there’s nothing great about being only a taker. You have something to give in your relationships. Be of value to others and they’ll be even more valuable to you.

Until next time,

Scarlet
